Consultations – Pediatric Physical Therapy

Consultations for parents & babies – in person or online

You are always welcome to visit me for consultations, either at the clinic in Aarhus or Copenhagen (Denmark) or online from anywhere in the world.

During consultations, we first talk about your child’s history. I will observe your child moving around and perform a physical examination on your child (or help you do it for me if it’s an online consultations). I will then show you individualized exercises that you can do with your child at home. If necessary, I will also provide manual therapy to supplement the exercises. You are welcome to take photos and videos of the exercises I demonstrate during the consultation.

Referral and reimbursement

Please note that I work as private health care practitioner, which means that you cannot use (and do not need) a referral from your doctor. If you are a member of Sygeforsikringen Danmark, you can receive reimbursement according to current reimbursement rules.

Should your baby or child attend?

If you book a session for assessment and advice on sensory integration, your child is always welcome but doesn’t have to join — I tailor the advice to what you tell me. The child should be present, however, if I need to assess or examine something specific (for example, gross motor difficulties).

Please bring a little entertainment and some snacks so your child has a pleasant experience during the appointment. I have children’s books and colouring books at the clinic. Some parents find it helpful to bring an extra adult, e.g. a grandparent, who can play with the child in the playroom while you have a quiet moment to talk with me.

Note: age restriction!

Due to limited space at the clinic in Copenhagen, it isn’t possible to carry out a full gross-motor assessment for larger children. For that reason I’ve set an age limit of 18 months. However, there may still be things I can assess in older children, so please email me at maria@develobaby.com if you’d like to know whether you can book an appointment.

How does an online consultation work?

When you book an online consultation, I use a GDPR-compliant service called doxy.me for the online session. For security reasons only one person can join at a time and I cannot record the online session for you. So if you’re two parents in different locations, please make sure you record the consultation yourselves with a phone or similar. For the best experience, ensure a good, stable internet connection and place your phone/computer at a fixed position (e.g. table) rather than holding it in your hand.

For online consultations it often makes sense for me to see a few short videos of your child beforehand, so we’re less dependent on whether your child is in the mood to show the relevant things during the session. Please send videos to maria@develobaby.com. Keep the videos short and sweet, so I can easily spot what you want me to concentrate on.

During the consultation I take handwritten notes of the exercises I adapt for your child. I’ll send these to you as a PDF after the consultation.

Payment is made via a link I send by SMS immediately after the consultation. When you open that link you can pay online as usual with your payment card.

Lectures and presentations for pediatric professionals

In addition to my daily work with clinical pediatric physiotherapy and Instagram, I am also happy to give lectures and presentation on pediatric physiotherapy topics.

My vision is that my lectures and courses should increase the understanding and practical skills of the recipients and provide a basis for dialog and reflection. It is important to me to translate complex theory into easy-to-use practice so that the recipient can immediately apply the new knowledge, whether they are private individuals or professionals.

I am happy to tailor pediatric content to you. The training can be anything from a short presentation (e.g. an after-work meeting) to a multi-day course where you or I plan the practical aspects.

Feel free to contact me at maria@develobaby.com, if you would like to learn more.
